A woman who came to Dhanbad’s Manditand from the United States with her NRI husband has mysteriously gone missing along with 300 grams of gold jewellery and ₹50,000 in cash. Her husband, Akash Kumar Babu, has lodged a kidnapping complaint at the Dhanbad’s Dhanasaar police station.
According to the complaint, the missing woman is Akash’s wife, who had been living in the US since their marriage in 2009. A month ago, she expressed her wish to visit her maternal home and came to India with Akash. After spending some time in Kolkata, they arrived in Dhanbad on June 28. However, on July 9, she went missing unexpectedly.
Akash suspects a man named Somnath Somnayya, who lives near Lindsay Club Road in Hirapur and works as a teacher. The police found the woman's mobile phone in a room at Somnath’s house located in Shirdi, Maharashtra. Her last call was also made to Somnath, which has intensified the suspicion.
Gold Bought Using US Bank Card, Locker Used
Before coming to India, the woman had purchased 100 grams of gold using her Bank of America card. Later, she deposited 200 grams of gold jewellery in a locker in Dhanbad. It was recently found that she had withdrawn the jewellery from the locker before going missing.
The police are now focusing their investigation in Shirdi, where the woman’s mobile phone and last call location were traced. It is suspected that she may have traveled to Shirdi along with Somnath.Investigation Underway
