New Delhi – Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the country’s largest steelmaking Maharatna PSU, has emerged as the largest steel supplier to India’s prestigious Zojila Tunnel project by contributing over 31,000 tonnes of steel, including TMT rebars, structural steel, and plates.
India’s Longest Road Tunnel Taking Shape
The under-construction Zojila Tunnel is set to become India's longest road tunnel and Asia's longest bi-directional tunnel, providing all-weather connectivity between Srinagar and Leh via Dras and Kargil. Located at an altitude of 11,578 feet, this 30-km mega-tunnel is being built in the challenging Himalayan terrain and is expected to be completed by 2027.
