Patna, July 17 — In a major pre-election announcement, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has declared free electricity up to 125 units per month for all domestic consumers in the state starting August 1, 2025. The move is expected to benefit over 1.67 crore households directly.
“We have always ensured affordable power for the people. Now, from August 1, 125 units of electricity per month will be provided free of cost to all domestic users,” said the CM via social media platform X.
🔸 Rooftop solar units will be installed on homes and public buildings.
🔸 The entire cost will be borne by the state for economically weaker households.
🔸 Other families will receive financial assistance from the government.
🔸 The target: 10,000 MW of solar power generation in Bihar by the end of three years.
