NHAI Tightens FASTag Policy – Loose Tags to Face Blacklisting"
To streamline toll operations and curb misuse, NHAI has reinforced its policy, mandating toll agencies and concessionaires to report ‘loose FASTags’ (commonly known as Tag-in-Hand) immediately for blacklisting.
🔍 Some vehicle owners avoid fixing FASTags on their windshields, leading to lane congestion, false chargebacks, and toll system misuse. This affects the seamless flow of traffic and delays genuine highway users.
📩 NHAI has now issued a dedicated email ID for such reports. Upon verification, the reported FASTags will be instantly blacklisted.
💡 This move supports upcoming tolling reforms like the MLFF (Multi-Lane Free Flow) system and aims to maintain trust in India’s booming FASTag network, now covering over 98% of toll transactions.
