Dhanbad: The nomination process for the municipal elections picked up pace on Monday, with more than 30 ward councillor candidates filing their nomination papers before the Returning Officer, officially entering the electoral race.
Among the key nominations, Mohammad Jalaluddin Ansari from Ward No. 7, Sundari Devi from Ward No. 10, and Urmila Mandal from Ward No. 21 submitted their papers. The contest in Ward No. 17 has turned particularly interesting with nominations from Raja Mohammad Khurshid Ansari and Nikhat Parveen. Meanwhile, four candidates, including Bharat Kumar Datta, filed nominations from Ward No. 29.
In other wards, nominations were filed by six candidates from Wards 1 to 5, one each from Wards 26 and 27, four from Ward 29, one from Ward 30, one from Ward 33, two from Ward 47, one from Ward 48, one from Ward 49, two from Ward 50, and one from Ward 51.
With continuous nominations pouring in, political activity in the city is intensifying, and the electoral contest is expected to become even more engaging in the coming days.
