Dhanbad: Under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, it is mandatory for meat and poultry shops operating in the district to comply with prescribed rules and safety standards. The Food Safety Officer, Dhanbad, has issued necessary guidelines to all meat traders in the district.
According to the official notice, all meat and poultry shops must obtain mandatory registration or license from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Jharkhand Food Safety Authority. Shops must ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness, including non-slip flooring, adequate drainage systems, availability of safe drinking water, use of stainless steel equipment, proper temperature-controlled storage of meat, and an effective waste disposal system.
Additionally, traders must adhere to prescribed distance norms from religious places, display clear signboards at their shops, and ensure that all staff members possess valid annual health certificates. Strict compliance with all food safety standards is required to safeguard public health.
The Food Safety Officer has clearly stated that all meat and poultry shop owners must ensure compliance with the prescribed norms within 14 days. Any violation of the guidelines will invite legal action under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
This directive aims to ensure safe, hygienic, and quality meat products for consumers in the district.
