A meeting of the District Mining Task Force was held today at New Town Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Mr. Aditya Ranjan.
During the meeting, the DC directed Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) to transfer land for mining activities only as per legal procedures and to compensate raiyats (landowners) before registry. He also advised BCCL to develop water reservoirs created in mining areas and undertake positive initiatives for the benefit of nearby communities.
Mr. Ranjan emphasized that in every Task Force meeting, activities related to sustainable mining, water conservation, and plantation carried out by BCCL will be reviewed. He also instructed strict compliance with the blasting protocol and mine safety plan.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Prabhat Kumar instructed BCCL to ensure proper filling and strengthening of abandoned mine entries. He also directed adherence to mining plans while dumping overburden and constructing project roads, fixing blasting schedules, and informing nearby residents in advance.
The SSP further directed all police station in-charges to take prompt action on complaints related to coal theft, illegal mining, and project-related issues.
During the meeting, District Mining Officer Mr. Ritesh Raj Tigga presented a report on actions taken against illegal mining, transportation, and storage of coal between January and July this year. BCCL representatives also briefed about measures taken to curb coal theft and illegal mining.
The meeting was attended by Rural SP Mr. Kapil Chaudhary, City SP Mr. Ritwik Srivastava, SDO Mr. Rajesh Kumar, District Transport Officer Mr. Diwakar C. Dwivedi, CISF Commandant, DSP (Law & Order) Mr. Naushad Alam, SDPO Sindri Mr. Ashutosh Satyam, SDPO Baghmara Mr. Purushottam Kumar Singh, SDPO Nirsa Mr. Rajat Manik Bakhla, circle officers of all blocks, police station in-charges, and all BCCL Area GMs along with other officials.
