Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren passed away late Friday night at a hospital in Delhi during treatment. He was 62. Soren had been admitted to the hospital on August 2 after his health deteriorated.
Despite continuous treatment for several days, his condition did not improve, and he was put on life-support systems. Unfortunately, he breathed his last late Friday night.
Wave of Mourning in Politics and Society
The news of his demise has cast a pall of gloom across Jharkhand. Leaders cutting across party lines have expressed their condolences.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid tribute to him with an emotional message, saying:
“You were not supposed to leave us like this, Ramdas Da… Antim Johar Dada…”
A Popular Leader and Public Servant
Ramdas Soren was known as a grassroots leader in Jharkhand politics. As Education Minister, he worked tirelessly to improve access to quality education, especially in rural and backward areas of the state.
Fondly called “Ramdas Da”, he was admired for his simplicity, humility, and strong connect with the people.

Political observers believe that his demise is an irreparable loss to Jharkhand’s politics and education sector. Colleagues remembered him not just as a minister but as a voice of the people and a beacon of hope for many.
