Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has landed in controversy over allegations of possessing two separate voter ID cards registered in different assembly constituencies. Taking cognizance of the matter, the Election Commission has issued a notice to Sinha, asking him to submit a written reply by 5 PM on August 14, 2025.
According to the allegations, Sinha’s name appears in the voter lists of 182-Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna district and 168-Lakhisarai Assembly constituency in Lakhisarai district, each with a different EPIC number. As per election rules, a citizen can only be registered as a voter in one constituency at a time.
The issue has sparked political reactions, with RJD leader and former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav targeting Sinha through social media posts. All eyes are now on the Deputy CM’s explanation and the subsequent action the Election Commission will take in this matter.
