On the auspicious occasion of World Tribal Day and Shravan Purnima, the newly constructed Barwaddah Police Station building in Dhanbad was formally inaugurated on Friday with traditional prayers and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The inauguration was jointly carried out by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Aditya Ranjan, Sindri MLA Chandradev Mahato, and Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar. The police station, earlier operating from the Agricultural Market premises, has now been relocated to Jodapeepal area in Udaipur.
Built by Jharkhand Police Housing Corporation Limited, this modern model police station is equipped with a waiting hall for visitors, separate residential facilities for women police personnel, clean drinking water, adequate seating arrangements, a women’s help desk, separate male and female lockups, a conference hall, rest rooms for officers and staff, kitchen, interrogation room, wireless room, CCTNS setup, record room, and malkhana, among other advanced facilities.
During the ceremony, MLA Chandradev Mahato said that despite challenges and limited resources, the police have always been committed to public service and security, and the new building will make their work more efficient. DC Aditya Ranjan assured that the approach road to the police station will be constructed soon and street lights will be installed in the surrounding area. SSP Prabhat Kumar expressed confidence that the new facility will make policing more effective and citizen-friendly.
The event saw the presence of a large number of local representatives, social workers, and residents, who welcomed the new police station as a significant step toward improving administrative efficiency and public service.
