Rahul Gandhi Recalls Farm Law Battle, Alleges Threat from Arun Jaitley
Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi | Congress Law Conclave 2025
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, addressing the Congress Law Conclave 2025, made a striking revelation about the period when he was actively opposing the farm laws introduced by the BJP government.
Speaking at Vigyan Bhavan, Gandhi stated:
“When I was fighting against the farm laws, Arun Jaitley was sent to threaten me. He warned, ‘If you continue down this path, opposing the government and fighting us on the farm laws, we’ll have to take action against you.’”
He said he firmly replied,
“I think you don’t know who you’re talking to. We are Congress people — we are not cowards. Even the British Empire couldn’t bend us.”
The remarks sparked reactions across social media, especially among Congress supporters, as Gandhi reasserted the party’s legacy of resistance and resilience.
This statement came as part of his broader critique of the Modi-led government's legal and democratic conduct, reinforcing Congress’s position ahead of upcoming state elections.
