New Delhi | July 30, 2025 Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has launched a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he is deliberately avoiding any mention of former US President Donald Trump due to fears that the “truth will come out.” In a post from the official Congress handle, Rahul Gandhi claimed that if Modi speaks, Trump would openly reveal everything, which is why the Prime Minister is remaining silent.
He further suggested that Trump’s repeated statements are part of a strategy to pressure Modi in the upcoming trade deal between India and the United States. According to Gandhi, the silence from Modi’s side indicates that there is something significant being hidden from the public.
This comes amid ongoing speculation after Donald Trump made cryptic comments referencing past discussions with Indian leadership. While Trump did not go into detail, his remarks have fueled political controversy in India, especially with the lack of any clear response from the Indian government.
Rahul Gandhi's comments have intensified the debate around India-US relations, with opposition leaders demanding transparency in trade negotiations and the details of past interactions with Trump. The Congress party maintains that national interests could be compromised under external pressure, and that the Prime Minister’s silence is a political vulnerability.
As talks of a new India-US trade agreement gain momentum, the spotlight is now firmly on the Modi government’s next move and whether it will address the growing political pressure to clarify its position.
