In a surprising turn of events, Dhanbad police have exposed a fake robbery case filed by a field officer of Bharat Microfinance Inclusion Ltd. The incident, initially reported as a robbery by unidentified criminals, turned out to be a false story created by the complainant himself.
DSP Dhirendra Narayan Banka informed that the incident was reported on July 21, when field officer Sajid Ansari lodged a written complaint at Tundi police station. He claimed that two unknown miscreants looted ₹97,141 in cash, a mobile phone, a tablet, and a biometric machine near Gadi Tundi on the Tundi-Govindpur main road.
Taking the case seriously, police launched an investigation and questioned individuals connected with the complainant. During the probe, Sajid’s friend Ahmad Ansari revealed a shocking detail — Sajid had handed him ₹74,500 near Gadi Tundi and said he would collect it later.
Upon learning about the robbery case, Ahmad approached the police and handed over the full amount. Further interrogation led to the recovery of Sajid's mobile phone and charger. When questioned about the missing tablet and biometric device, Sajid confessed to having thrown them into a nearby river.
Sajid later admitted to fabricating the story. He told police that he had been working at the Baliapur branch for the past two years and had faced deductions of around ₹1 lakh there, along with another ₹50,000 from the Giridih branch as incentive cuts. Distressed by these losses, he staged the fake robbery to recover the amount.
Thanks to the prompt action, sharp investigation, and coordinated efforts of the police, the fraud was swiftly uncovered. Sajid Ansari has been arrested and legal proceedings are underway.
