In a significant breakthrough against Maoist insurgency, a joint team of Chaibasa Police, Jharkhand Jaguar (STF), and CRPF recovered ₹34.99 lakh in cash buried underground in a forested area of Chaibasa district, Jharkhand.
The operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, led to the discovery of cash concealed in plastic-wrapped bundles and hidden inside metal containers and tiffin boxes beneath the soil. The currency was believed to be part of the financial reserves of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit, meant to fund their anti-national activities.
Images from the site show the currency tightly packed in newspaper and polythene for preservation.
According to officials, this seizure marks a critical hit to the Maoists' underground economy and will severely impact their operational capabilities in the region.
This is a major success in choking the financial supply chain of Maoist extremists. The operation reflects our continued resolve to dismantle their network," said a senior police official.
This development reinforces the growing efficiency and coordination among security forces in tackling extremism in Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas.
