President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, completed three years in office today and marked the occasion by launching several forward-looking initiatives at Rashtrapati Bhavan. These initiatives highlight a strong push toward inclusivity, digital accessibility, and environmental sustainability.
A major milestone was the declaration of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Amrit Udyan, and the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum as Divyangjan-friendly spaces. This transformation followed the successful implementation of a comprehensive 50-point accessibility plan recommended by the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities.
In a significant step towards linguistic inclusion, the official websites of the President of India—rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in and presidentofindia.gov.in—are now accessible in 22 Indian languages, enabling citizens across regions to engage with the Presidency in their native tongues.
To improve the visitor experience and community well-being, President Murmu inaugurated several new facilities including a Visitor Facilitation Centre at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Nilayam Nikunj at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Hyderabad, a cafeteria, souvenir shop, and reception at Rashtrapati Niwas in Mashobra, and a newly renovated gym at the President’s Estate in Delhi.
Additionally, the President launched Season 2 of E-Upahaar, an online auction of over 250 gifts received by her. Proceeds from the auction will support welfare programs for children. A digital book highlighting key moments from the past year of the Presidency was also released. Further, initiatives aimed at transforming Rashtrapati Bhavan into a Net Zero campus by March 2027 have officially begun.
In her remarks, President Murmu expressed satisfaction at the progress made over the past three years. She stated that numerous initiatives had enhanced citizen engagement with Rashtrapati Bhavan and reaffirmed her commitment to connecting all sections of society—especially the underprivileged—with the nation’s development. She expressed happiness that Rashtrapati Bhavan is now more accessible to persons with disabilities and conveyed her confidence that many more people-centric initiatives will unfold in the future.
